The specific type of arthritis women experience is called Reiter’s Syndrome. This arthritis causes swelling and inflammation in the joints. In men, symptoms can slightly differ. Men may experience penile discharge, fever, a painful or burning sensation during urination, and swollen testicles. For people with arthritis, arthritis gloves are essential. Those with anal chlamydia symptoms may experience anal discharge (mucus), bleeding, and pain in the rectum. Individuals with infection in the anus can also experience blood in their stools. Those with chlamydia that affects their eyes (conjunctivitis) can experience pink eye. Symptoms of this can include itchy and red eyes. They may experience mucus-like discharge and swollen eyelids. When chlamydia goes untreated, it women can develop PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). This disease can be serious, and occurs in 10-20% of those with untreated chlamydia. Pelvic inflammatory can lead to infertility. This disease also increases the chances of problematic pregnancies, such as ectopic and tubal. Women with chlamydia who give birth can transfer chlamydia to their newborn. Chances of the baby being born with chlamydia tend to increase with vaginal births. Babies born with chlamydia can have eye infections and respiratory problems. The symptoms tend to start a few weeks after birth and these babies usually develop pneumonia and a cough.Even if you notice a lack of chlamydia symptoms, it doesn’t mean that it is definite that you don’t have the disease. Many individuals have no symptoms, which makes it important that one gets professionally tested to see if they are infected.
